L.J. Peretti: Scottish Flake

This must be one of the coolest blends.  Not only is it a flake which burns cooler, it is cooler than most flakes.  From their website,

SCOTTISH FLAKE: Our fullest bodied flake. A blend of mature virginias are cured with red wine, pressed in a cake, and steam treated. The result is a jet black cake which delivers load of thick rich smoke.

I suppose it is the red wine which makes it so cool when it burns.  It almost remids me of a Florida everglades fire; it just smolders along never going out and flares up occasionally.  Although I enjoy using the whole flake method of smoking, this flake seems a little too dense to burn this way and responds better to typical rolling to break it up well.
